Which pairs overlap at all#
If every city works 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, three pairs share working hours: New York and London, London and India, and, for one hour, San Francisco and London. Any pair that puts a US city with India has none. New York's 9:00 AM is 7:30 PM in India in winter (6:30 PM in summer), and San Francisco's 9:00 AM is 10:30 PM there (9:30 PM in summer).
The tables rest on these assumptions, which you should change to match your team:
- Working hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, in every city. That is an assumption, not a standard.
- A time counts only if everyone is inside working hours for the whole slot.
- Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi share one time zone, India Standard Time (UTC+5:30), which has no daylight saving time and does not change with the seasons in the years covered here (Why India Is UTC+5:30: Half-Hour and 45-Minute Time Zones explains the half-hour offset).
- Times are computed from IANA time zone data for Wednesday, January 13, 2027 (winter) and Wednesday, July 14, 2027 (summer), under the rules in force as of October 2026.
Overlap windows in winter and summer#
Winter means every city is on standard time, which applies from November 1, 2026, to March 13, 2027. Summer means every city is on daylight time, from March 28 to October 30, 2027, and until October 24 this year, so today's gaps match the summer column.

US and European pairs keep the same window in both seasons, because both clocks move by an hour. India does not move, so the London and India window slides by an hour.
If your European team is in Central Europe (Berlin, Paris), one hour ahead of London, the numbers change. New York and Berlin share 3 hours (9:00 AM–12:00 PM New York is 3:00–6:00 PM Berlin). Berlin and India share 4.5 hours in winter and 5.5 in summer. San Francisco and Berlin share none.
When there is no overlap: New York, San Francisco and India#
New York and India. Stretch one side. The common choice is New York morning and India evening: 8:00 to 10:00 AM in New York is 6:30 to 8:30 PM in India in winter and 5:30 to 7:30 PM in summer. EST to IST: Time Difference, Conversion Chart and Call Times has a full conversion chart.
San Francisco and India. San Francisco is on Pacific Time (US Time Zones Explained: Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific and Beyond covers the US zones). Early, 6:00 AM in San Francisco is 7:30 PM in Bengaluru in winter and 6:30 PM in summer. Late, 7:30 PM in San Francisco in winter, or 8:30 PM in summer, is 9:00 AM the next day in Bengaluru. The late option changes the date: 7:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2027, in San Francisco is 8:30 AM on Saturday, January 16, in Bengaluru.
New York, London and India. For a 30-minute call, summer has one slot where only New York starts early: 8:00–8:30 AM New York, 1:00–1:30 PM London, 5:30–6:00 PM India. Starting at 8:30 AM New York would put India at 6:00–6:30 PM, past the end of its day. In winter no slot fits: 8:00 AM New York is 1:00 PM London and 6:30 PM India, so the Indian half of a 30-minute call runs 6:30–7:00 PM.
When no hour works, there are three fixes:
- Rotate the stretch. Alternate New York morning and India evening with New York evening and India early morning (8:00 PM in New York is 6:30 AM the next day in India in winter, 5:30 AM in summer). Whichever side stretches, share the cost rather than leaving it to one team.
- Use London as the bridge. Hold a New York and London call and a separate London and India call, with London carrying decisions between them.
- Go asynchronous first. GitLab's handbook asks organizers to check whether an asynchronous method would work and to review every participant's time zone. Keep live time for decisions, and record the call.
The weeks when the US and Europe change clocks on different dates#
US daylight saving time runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. The UK and the EU change on the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October. In the weeks between the two sets of dates, New York is 4 hours behind London instead of 5. Those weeks are March 8 to 29 and October 25 to November 1 in 2026, and March 14 to 28 and October 31 to November 7 in 2027. When Do the Clocks Change? The next such window starts on Sunday, October 25, 2026. In those weeks the New York and London window grows to 5 hours (9:00 AM–2:00 PM New York is 1:00–6:00 PM London) and the San Francisco and London window to 2 hours. London and India keep their winter gap, because London is on winter time in those weeks.
A recurring call shows the wobble. Fixed at 9:00 AM New York time on Wednesdays, it moves for London and India:

The meeting planner works out these windows for any cities. Add each place with Add city (up to eight), and put first the city whose day you are planning, because the grid shows that city's 24 hours. Pick the meeting date so each city's clock rules for that day apply, then choose working hours. Dark green columns mark hours that work for everyone. Because India is on a half-hour offset, read exact times from the Best time to meet list under the grid rather than from the shading.
Working hours come from a list: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (the default), 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. There is no 9-to-6 setting, so the default shows windows an hour shorter than the tables here and 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM an hour longer. If no hour is shared, it lists a closest compromise for the hours you chose: at the default 9-to-5 on January 13, 2027, it suggests 7:30 AM in New York, 12:30 PM in London and 6:00 PM in India, which differs from the 9-to-6 figures above.
