The short version#
Timelive has no accounts, no ads and no third-party trackers. The preferences you set are saved on your own device and are never sent to us. This page explains the details.
What is stored on your device#
Timelive uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember choices you make, so the site is as you left it:
- your theme (light or dark), the 12-hour or 24-hour format and whether the clock face is shown;
- the cities you add to your world clock and your chosen home city;
- the state of the stopwatch and timer, so a running timer survives a page reload.
This data stays in your browser. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings, and the site works without it. Timelive itself does not set cookies.
Your location#
Timelive can show the time for the city nearest to you, but only when you press Show my city. Your browser then asks for permission. If you allow it, your position is used inside your browser to find the nearest city in our list. It is not sent to our server and not stored.
Separately, Cloudflare, which hosts the site, tells our server an approximate location (country, city and time zone) for each request, based on your network address. We use it only to choose sensible defaults for the first page you see, such as the local time of your region. We do not store it.
What our hosting provider sees#
Timelive is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives technical information with each request, such as your network address and browser type, and keeps its own logs to deliver and secure the service. Cloudflare's own privacy policy describes how it handles that data. We do not add analytics or advertising scripts of our own.
The home page also asks our server for the current time (/api/time) so that it can show how far your device clock is from the exact time. That request carries no personal information.
Links to other sites#
Pages and articles link to other sites, such as source material and a map link for a city. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We do not share information with them when you load a Timelive page; a link only takes effect if you follow it.
Children#
Timelive does not ask for personal information from anyone, so there is nothing that is specific to children.
Changes#
If this policy changes, we update this page and its "Last updated" date.
